"My internal medicine physician was the one who encouraged me to seek chiropractic therapy for my chronic, debilitating migraine headaches. At that point, my headaches were daily and I could barely function as a wife, mother, and employee. Through regular chiropractic care, I was able to get my life back. I still had the constant headaches, but the intensity of them had been greatly diminished to the point where I could reclaim my life and start taking care of my family and resume working as a nurse.
On one occasion, I had been working in the yard with my husband. I came inside to clean up and while in the shower, my headache went from a nagging nuisance to a level so intense I couldn’t stand up. I was in tears from the unimaginable pressure inside my head. When my husband came inside and found me, he decided we had to go to the ER. I suggested we try the chiropractor first. (My thought was that if the chiropractor did not help with my headache, we could go from the chiropractor’s office to the ER.) To both of our amazement, I walked out of the chiropractor’s office with no headache at all. That is the day my husband became a believer in the value of chiropractic care. He started making appointments with the chiropractor and soon realized a reduction in intensity of his nagging lower back pain.
I was one of Dr. Jean Luc’s first patients when he started practicing chiropractic medicine in the Northern Virginia area. At this point I had been under the care of a chiropractor for years. However, I immediately noticed something different about Jean Luc. His gentleness, patience and exceptional technical skill resulted in the best adjustments I had ever had. With him, I was able to relax more during the adjustments themselves so that he could effectively impact the underlying causes that were exacerbating my migraines.
I have been seeing Dr. Jean Luc as a patient for 5 years now. I no longer struggle with daily migraines. When I do get a headache they are of diminished frequency, duration and intensity. Now that Dr. Jean Luc has his own office, he has all the tools available to him to confront any issue I may present him with. He knows the proper combination of the intersegmental traction table, TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) therapy, heat, cold, myofascial release and manual adjustments to alleviate muscle strain and/or headache pain.
My husband and I have become such strong believers in the positive impact regular chiropractic care can have on a person, that we schedule our sons to see Dr. Jean Luc monthly. "I have a disease called "Dystonia," a rare movement disorder that can involve any of the muscles in the human body. The form of Dystonia I have is Focal Dystonia in my right hand and arm. It started in 1994 as pain and over the first six years, the disease progressed to where my entire handʼs muscles would flex into different and awkward painful postures. I went to several types of doctors and in 2001 was diagnosed with Dystonia. Since 2001, I have been given Botox shots in the muscles in my right arm to help relieve the pain and muscle stiffness. It wasn’t until I saw Dr. Jean-Luc almost 2 years ago, that changed the shape and posturing in my right hand. Dr. Jean-Luc has helped me with neck and back adjustments along with working especially with my hand. Before seeing Dr. Jean-Luc, I was not able to close my hand, or use it for normal everyday movements such as holding a glass and fork, getting dressed, and taking a shower amongst many other daily activities. After 2 years with Dr. Jean-Lucʼs Chiropractic care, I am able to do much more with my right hand (including most of the aforementioned items).
