Since many sports injuries are complicated in nature, we work with a variety of other sports medicine doctors in the area to treat our patients and minimize their healing time. We are very proud of our excellent reputation within the athletic community for getting results

Here is a short list of some of the sports medicine and injury treatments we use with our patients:

Movement Coaching - Plan Development and Implementation
Your journey begins with an assessment of your current physical, emotional and mental condition. We will then design a corrective exercise program to not only address any sports injury pain you are experiencing but to focus on the underlying cause of these dysfunctions. The program will enable you to restore optimal health and vitality.  Initially, we will have you complete a series of questionnaires. These can all be done via a website. After you have completed your questionnaires, we will review them and contact you to set-up a Comprehensive Postural Assessment.

After your sports medicine assessment, we will design a customized exercise program based on both your assessment and submitted questionnaires. Exercise programs generally consist of corrective stretches along with resistance & cardio training, depending on your needs. You will receive an easy-to-follow detailed description of your rehabilitation exercise program, including acute variables such as Rest, Tempo, Intensity, Duration, Repetitions and Sets. This information along with video clips of each of your exercises is all available for you to view via our website.    If you're looking for a sports medicine doctors in Arlington VA, call us now for a same-day appointment!

Active Release Technique
ART is a state of the art soft tissue management system.  It uses hands on methods to diagnose and treat an extensive array of soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains, tears, tendonitis, repetitive stress injuries and joint problems (such as arthritis).  ART practitioners are highly trained to locate the injury, properly diagnose the type of injury and treat the injury.

Graston Technique
The Graston Technique is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that helps clinicians effectively break down scar tissue and myofascial adhesions. When an individual is experiencing uncomfortable tightness or pain with movement in his/her soft tissues, cross-linking of scar tissue is many times the problem. Cross-linkages are problematic when they become excessive during the healing process. Breaking these cross-linkages and restoring proper tissue function will allow the patient to enjoy pain free range of motion.

Kinesiology Taping
Kinesio Taping is designed to give support to muscles and joints without negatively affecting circulation and range of motion. It is also used for preventative maintenance, inflammation, and pain control. Kinesio Taping is based on the body’s natural ability to heal on it’s own and aids this process by activating neurological and circulatory systems.

Functional Movement Screen
The FMS is a system that documents movement limitations and asymmetries through a specialized grading and ranking system that monitors basic movement patterns in non-painful individuals. This allows us to identify potential risk factors that could become problematic if an individual chooses to push their physical capacity through fitness, sports, or repetitive daily activities. By tracking the FMS scores our sports medicine doctors are able to prescribe corrective exercises that will be most effective in restoring basic fundamental movements.

Selective Functional Movement Assessment
The SFMA is a series of full body movement tests that help identify meaningful impairments in those individuals experiencing pain. This allows us to look at how movement dysfunction in one area of the body may be causing pain in a seemingly unrelated area of the body. This concept is known as regional interdependence. By correcting these dysfunctions through manual therapy and sports medicine exercises we can methodically decrease painful symptoms and restore proper movement patterns.
